Bridge Road iPhone App

Client: Bridge Road Council

When we were approached by Bridge Road to design and develop a unique iPhone application we were very excited. The application is designed for tourists and new visitors to Bridge Road and contains information about Bridge Road and some of its stores. The key element of the iPhone application however, is the Google Map functionality - Bridge Road stores who are subscribed to this service appear on a map of bridge road as a colour coded marker (each colour represents a specific type of store). Once a user clicks a marker they are taken to a page that contains a short description and contact details of the store, they can visit the store's website or make a call directly from the iPhone application.

This free app can be downloaded from the iPhone store.

Axle Whitehead is one of Australia's leading new musical talents and stars on the prime-time TV show, Home & Away. In preparation for the release of debut album 'Losing Sleep', Axle wanted to have a greater presence on the web, as well as providing a platform to enable fans to communicate with him easily and quickly. This needed to look professional and edgy in order to match his image.

Niika Design worked closely with Axle and his representatives through the whole process in order to facilitate a cohesive blend between creativity and practicality. This was done in order to ensure his digital brand tied in closely with his presence in the physical world.

Through discussions with Axle it was decided that the best option was to embrace the leading social media networks in addition to creating a fully customised website. The site design included the framework for an online store, as well as the functionality for Axle to write a blog, and for his management to announce his upcoming shows and provide news updates to his fans.

Niika Design designed Facebook, Twitter and MySpace pages in order to give fans the greatest chance of interacting with the artist no matter what social network they chose to use - Axle could respond directly to fans questions and messages from all over the globe.

Making Axle so accessible definitely elicited a positive response from his fans. Soon after the pages were launched he had over 1000 followers on Twitter, and similar numbers on his Facebook page. Axle has been friended by more than 2000 people on his MySpace page which to date has been viewed almost 200,000 times. Axle has a number of fans in the UK and providing them with such a vehicle to interact with an artist on the other side of the globe proved to be invaluable. There was a great deal of activity from fans in that region of the world which undoubtedly increased his image in that market.

Subsequently, his album 'Losing Sleep' was released to positive reviews from critics and fans alike. It also contained the hit single 'I Don't Do Surprises' which was certified Gold by ARIA.

Old Carey Soccer Club Website

Old Carey Soccer Club

Client: Old Carey Soccer Club

www.oldcareysoccerclub.com/

The Old Carey Soccer Club was going through a transitional stage which included giving the whole club an aesthetic facelift, both on the field and off. Being a community club, they also wanted to create a digital space in order to easily convey information to both players and members. The club itself has the best facilities and playing pitches in their league. As such, the Niika Design team set about creating a modern and professional solution to reflect this image. We embedded ourselves within the club extensively, working closely with their senior officials in order to gauge the exact requirements and vision that the Old Carey Soccer Club had for their re-design.

Using the information gathered through these encounters, Niika Design created a fully-functioning CMS website complete with e-commerce capabilities, news feeds, player and club information and an online calendar. By creating an extensive custom tailored CMS, this means that the site can be updated easily and quickly by members of the club itself.

Niika Design also redesigned the club's logo, updating and revitalising it in the process. The Old Carey Soccer Club are known as 'The Canaries' (due to their primary colour being a bright canary yellow). We focused on bringing the canary to the forefront of the design to create a logo that is bright, colourful, modern, aesthetically pleasing, and additionally is easily readable when placed on the team's new uniforms.

In addition to this, a customised Facebook page was created which extracts news posts from the website. This in turn displays them to the club's personnel, within the Facebook environment, to ensure that everyone is updated with the club's information as soon as it's posted.

The newly designed site has been successful, averaging over 1,000 visits per month. Additionally the redesigned logo has been printed on all playing kits, club merchandise and apparel with strong positive feedback received.
